Psychiatric Symptoms as Possible Brain Tumor Complications: A Case Report

BACKGROUND:
Brain tumors constitute 9% of all tumors in adults and as much as 20% of neoplasms in children. They are the cause of 2.6% of all deaths. It is estimated that psychiatric symptoms are present in approximately 30% of all patients treated for brain tumors.
CASE REPORT:
This paper presents a case report of a patient with a tumor in the temporal lobe, in whom the first symptoms included mental disorders dominated by psychotic symptoms.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. Atypical symptomatic presentation of brain tumors may lead to a delayed correct diagnosis. 2. In each case, a focal foundation of the symptoms needs to be taken into account.
