The paper presents some basic data on phases of reactions during sexual activity on circulatory system. The most typical problems of sexual life in cardiological patients, especially with stable angina, and after myocardial infarction have been presented. Recommendations of the Second Princeton Consensus Panel for the initiation or resumption of sexual activity and for management of sexual dysfunction in patients with cardiovascular disease have been described. The main problems of sexual dysfunction after acute coronary syndromes as well as modulation of heart attack risk during sexual activity have been discussed. The work also characterizes treatment of sexual dysfunction with PDE 5 – inhibitors and differences between sildenafil, vardenafil and tadalafil. (Clin Exp Med Lett 2007; 48(4): 203-209)
