Background:    Variations in the number of renal arteries are common, with the reported frequency ranging between 9% and 76%.
Case Report:    We present the case of a woman with hypertension for many years but since about 6 months it has been refractory and accelerated. In our patient aortic valve stenosis coexists with atherosclerotic changes in carotid arteries, renal additional arteries and renal arteries stenoses.
Conclusions:    Although hemodynamically insignificant, atherosclerotic lesions, together with anatomic abnormalities, could be the cause of accelerating hypertension.

Keywords: Hypertension, additional renal arteries, atherosclerosis
