Inferior limb blood flow and indexes of pulsation and segmentary pressure in patients with vascular diseases

Introduction: The study was aimed to investigate correlation between the arterial blood flow, indexes of the resistance and pulsation and USGd (Colour Doppler Ultrasonography) test and to compare segmentary pressures with blood flows, resistance and pulsation indexes. Materials and methods: The study was conducted on the out-patient basis at the Clinical University Hospital No 2. It included 37 patients, 21 men and 16 women, aged 69 and 71, respectively, who underwent USGd. The blood flow was assessed with VenoDoppler device witht heaxil 8 MHz, which calculated the indexes of pulsation, resistance, average and maximum speed. Results: The blood flow intibial an teriorartery differed significantly fromt he flows in the artery next to narrowing, but it do not differ from ischemia of that artery. The rewere only 4 occlusive tibialanterior arteries. The flows in the tibial posteriorartery do not differ from the flows next to the narrowingand occlusionofthe artery. Index of the resistance for the patent arteries, narrowed or occlusive did not differ statistically. The rearenostatistical differences if patent and occlusive arteries were compared.Conclusions: UDP (Doppler Ultrasonography) pulsation index correlates with the USGd parameters. It is suitable for monitoring of inferior limb ischemia and treatment progress on the out-patient basis. Pulsation index is superior to the resistance index for the evaluation of inferior limb ischemia. Ankle-brachial UDP index is suitable and objective vascular diagnostic test. (Clin. Exp. Med.
