Introduction. Sex differences in the incidence of coronary risk factors (CRF) in pts aged up to 50 years with AMI. Materials and methods. 260 pts aged up to 50 years with AMI were analyzed: group I - 57 women (26 - 50 years, mean 45.8 ± 4.2), group II - 203 men (27 - 50 years, mean 43.7 ± 5.4). Results. In both groups the most relevant CRF were smoking (80.5% vs 78%), dyslipidemia (68% vs 73%), family history of coronary artery disease (CAD) (55% vs 59%) and hypertension (42% vs 37%). In women a history of anginal chest pain before AMI (35% vs 25%, p<.0.05) was more common opposite to obesity (10.5% vs 23.5%, p<0.05). Two CRF coexisted in 53.5% and more CRF in 31% of the whole group. The most common coexistence of two modifiable CRF was smoking with dyslipidemia and three CRF– smoking, dyslipidemia and hypertension. There was no significant difference between a group of pts with and without the family history of CAD in smoking and overweight. Conclusions. In the study group: 1. a history of anginal chest pain before AMI is more common in women and obesity is more common in men, 2. the most common coexistence of two modifiable CRF is smoking with dyslipidemia and three CRF - smoking, dyslipidemia and hypertension, 3. family history of CAD does not stimulate for the healthy lifestyle.
